Welcome to Access Institute’s
nationally renowned postgraduate
fellowship program

Access Institute trains the next generation of mental health professionals
with a psychoanalytic & community-service focus.

At Access Institute you are taught by contemporary thinkers who have evolved psychoanalytic practice in meaningful ways.

This intensive program trains postgraduate fellows for up to two years during which time they provide clinical services and receive training and supervision from some of the Bay Area’s top clinicians. (For information on Access Institute’s Pre-doctoral Internship click here.) The first, full-time training year can be followed by an optional second, part-time year designed to support fellows through licensure and assist them with their unique career paths. All fellows receive a minimum of three hours of individual supervision per week and participate in a didactic curriculum designed to support their work within the community clinic. Advanced seminars are designed to facilitate the building of clinical thinking and the development of individual clinical voices within the psychoanalytic tradition.

At Access Institute we take our fellows’ experiences seriously, and build a supportive community of peers and professionals to support their growth and education.

Immersion is everything. There are many dimensions to the post-graduate fellowship: classroom discussion, intensive supervision, theoretical instruction, technical development, and specialized training. Clinical experience involves individual, couple’s and group therapy; assessment experience is available as well. Treatments can be intensive; many patients are seen multiple times per week for the entire duration of the fellowship.
